The holiday is over…are you still grateful?

Thanksgiving Feast

I love this time of year.  It is a wonderful reminder to focus on family, relationships, tradition and gratitude.  It’s also a time for feasts and frivolity!  Now that the feast is over, are you still grateful?  Or has gratitude moved to the bottom of your list and been taken over my getting ready for the next big holiday?  Gratitude is a wonderful practice any time of year.  It is especially powerful this time of year when stress can become a major player in your life.  It can also be very grounding if the holidays are a hard or lonely time for you.  My November Newsletter is all about gratitude and you can read it here.  During the hustle and bustle of the season, can you also find a way to put being thankful at the top of your to do list?

Connecting the world, one fantasy at a time.

People often ask me why I do this work.  Why sex therapy?  Why sex?  One of the reasons I am pulled to this arena is because I want to generate conversations.  I want people to talk about sex.  When they talk about sex, they might see they are not so alone.  The more we bottle up our sexual conversations, the easier it is to feel alone.  The less we talk about sex, the more likely it is for us to worry that “our kind of sex” isn’t the norm.  The more we talk about something the less shameful it becomes.  If we keep your desires secret, lock them up in some dark space, they become more shameful. I want to help people communicate about sex and find out how similar we all really are.  That is what inspired this project.

Tell me your fantasies.

What do you want?  What do you find sexy?  How would you like to be seduced?  What do you crave in your own sex life?  What do you think about, yet would never really want to happen in “real life.”  I invite you to send me your fantasies and I will post them on my blog.  I will post them anonymously if you prefer.  I will even post them with a link back to your blog if you like.  I will post your fantasy so someone else can read it and feel like s/he isn’t so alone.

Here are the details –

Send me your fantasies!  Please  email a fantasy that is between 10 and 1500 words.  Tell me if you want me to include your name or a link to your website.  Please include one identifying marker (gender, age, career, ethnicity, hair color, location, etc.)  Do not include an identifying characteristic that will make you feel exposed or uncomfortable.  I’m requesting an identifying marker to create connection.  If you write a fantasy, someone might connect with that very fantasy, if you also list you live in the Midwest, other readers may connect with that too.  Please send your fantasies to julie@portlandsextherapy.com between now and December 15th.

Feel free to share this information with anyone you think might be interested.  The more people involved, the better.  You don’t have to be a writer.  You don’t have to have a blog.  All you need, is a fantasy.  My hope is that we can truly connect the world, one fantasy at a time.
